We appreciate the beauty of flowers, but the green thing holding the whole flower up in the first place goes unnoticed. But it is strong and beautiful! And it carries its burden without any recognition or complaint- a silent, steadfast, selfless worker (how's that for alliteration and personification in the same sentence). Have you read the book The Giving Tree? This picture reminds me of it.
